Self-control
“But the fruit of the Spirit is… Self-control…”- Galatians 5:22
“Egkrateia” is the Greek word used in the scripture above for “self-control.” Egkrateia comes from two Greek words, “En“, which means, “In the sphere of,” and “Kratos“, which means, “dominion, mastery.” So Egkrateia is, “Inner dominion.” This suggests self-control as the grace that enables a person to control himself from within. And this inner control has corresponding effects on our outward actions. To have self-control therefore, is to have dominion over our emotions (feelings).
Declaration
I receive this grace of self-control now in Jesus name!
